How I Proved I Was the Best Athlete

When I was 10 or 11, I was clearly the best of all my sports teams, in all three major sports; baseball, football and basketball. I had been a standout since I was 4 or 5 years old. I was told that I could be the next Babe Ruth. The problem was that when I reached puberty, I more or less gave up all sports; besides basketball. I’ve always had a love for the game, partly because I could just walk out into my driveway as a kid and practice whenever I wanted. It made sense that I found it to be the easiest sport to play once I got into organized sports. A big reason I didn’t follow my dreams was that during puberty I started sweating like crazy. It would get in my eyes and burn me. When I was playing football and putting the pads on, I only lasted one day. I knew I was the best player there, I had already proven that in rag tag football. In the end, I found myself at 24 and thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. I slowly started practicing on city basketball courts to see if I could prove to myself that I was still the best. At the age of twenty-six, I was ready to claim my superiority on the basketball court, even though I was barely six feet tall. Although I was big enough to play as a centre-back when I was younger, now I knew that I should be limited to playing the leader!

How did I do it

The first thing I did after convincing myself that I was good enough to be a point guard, at least in the ABCs, was finding out when and where the nearest tryout was going to be. You have been authorized to participate in a trial. I mainly trained in 1v1 or 2v2 games. I played a little all over the court, but not enough to make it to an ABC team (my first mistake). When I came to tryout I did well and dominated the field, but gave way quickly. I decided that I was going to give 100% at the next try, and it would be held in Oklahoma City, but unfortunately I never made it there. I had some personal issues that kept me from attending this trial, and I finally gave up on the dream.

I realized that it would have been possible to make this CBA team on the first try if I had been in good shape. It’s never too late if you’re in your twenties; he is possible to join a professional team, even if it would be the minor leagues first, if for some reason you missed your university years! Don’t let anyone say you’re too old (unless you’re already in your 30s). If you knew you still had talent at twenty-eight, don’t let them say you’re too old! You have a chance to do so. Everyone ages differently. Personally, if I was drafted today, at fifty, I could cause a sensation with an NBA team, at least for a season. Now that would be something wouldn’t it?
