6 Bad Habits That Affect Baseball and Softball Hitters

No matter which typing philosophy you believe in, none of them will help you reach your greatest potential unless these 6 bad habits are stopped in their tracks. This is true for baseball and women’s softball. If you have one of these bad habits, getting rid of them will automatically increase batting power and speed.

Squash the bug

If you were taught to squash the bug, you dug yourself into a hole. Smusshing the Bug involves a small muscle movement that reduces batting power and speed. Some hitters learn to twist or turn their back foot to create more speed and power in the swing. Nothing can be further than the truth. Also, it’s nearly impossible for you to hit middle or outside pitches with the bat’s sweet spot if you have a back foot problem. A guaranteed pop out! Correction: All you have to do is focus on keeping the lead arm straighter as you start your swing. Most advanced or experienced hitters won’t have this problem, but it is something to be aware of.
