The Prithviraj Stadium Ajmer
This lecture is about one of the biggest stadiums in Rajasthan India. Prithviraj Stadium aka Khel Gaon in Ajmer has truly been a destination for all sportsmen of Ajmer and Rajasthan. Be it cricket, football or hockey, the ground is large enough to accommodate any gaming competition for any of these games. Teams from all over the state participate in the games held in this stadium and that is the reason why this stadium has become a very important platform for players in the state.
The stadium was started and founded by the state government in 2003. The reason was to provide the sports facility to Ajmer district. The location of the stadium is also very beautiful as it is in the slope of the Aravali hills. The grounds laid out in the stadium are world-class facilities. Fields for hockey, cricket, swimming, athletics, badminton, table tennis and volleyball are the main facilities of the stadium.
The first match played in this stadium was the state level cricket match and then the state level hockey match in 2003. Since then the facilities have improved a lot and various matches are now held. The stadium was recently awarded to Rajasthan Royals, the IPL team of Rajasthan.
Practice matches have started for IPL squad selection and the best part if a lot of homegrown players are getting involved in the selection competition this time. Different categories of the game are to be completed by the players selected from here. The new pitch which was developed a few weeks ago would be ideal for players who want to present themselves as fast bowlers as bounce and pace are expected from this pitch. There’s a lot of this stadium talk, but I guess the most important part is the inclusion of that in the IPL.
